Co-Producer of the event is our very own GIS Mapping Coordinator Mike Trakan, who will also perform with his band Trakan. At Tutor/Mentor Connection, Mike creates maps that look at the relationship among poverty, community resources, school performance, and locations of non-school tutoring/mentoring facilities for K-12 students.
In order to fulfill our mission, T/MC uses a four-part strategy which includes the raising of public awareness. An event like Tutor/Mentor Jam is meant to bring attention and dollars to tutor/mentor programs in this critical volunteer recruitment period just before the start of the academic year. Thus, I hope you see this not just as an opportunity to enjoy great music (check out the bands!), but as an opportunity to make a long-term commitment to support tutoring and mentoring as a volunteer or donor.

If you cannot attend Tutor/Mentor Jam, please spread the word and considering making a donation to our GiveForward page here. Thank you!
The Jam also has a page where local tutor/mentor programs can buy "squares" for $50 each. We'll post the logo, or a screen shot of the home page, with a web link, in each square. Thus, the event will help programs attract more attention to their own sites, and it will demonstrate support by area programs for the T/MC. The Volunteer page is at http://www.tutormentorjam.org/volunteer.htm
